Good question.
In two weeks (give or tale a few days) I will have wrapped the current novel I'm working on, a thriller for Macmillan. I'm working with the same great editor for whom I wrote STAY. It's been awesome.

But ...

I'm looking forward to wrapping it up so I can pivot to the next project. I'm contracted for a comic book thingy, so I'll be working on that obviously, but I need at least one more project and can't decide between a few choices ... all of which I'm excited about. Part of me wants to juggle all of them, but I took my lumps learning a guy can get burned out trying to do too much too fast. And old man Gischler needs his sleep.

Some of these things are "wait and see" projects ... meaning that I'm excited about them creatively, but I'd need to wait and see if they actually turned into anything. For example, I had a nice call with a producer about a week ago, and she suggested I write a TV pilot to show as a sample. I'm keen to try this, but it's not the sort of thing that'll put food on the table ... I mean, maybe down the road, but not immediately. Another filmmaker and I have hatched a plan to come up with an idea that can be shot on an ultra low budget but still look like a "real movie" ... as opposed to something middle school kids shot in the backyard with smartphone cameras. I'm writing a page here and there. I'd love to get on a roll and finish the thing. But again ... a "wait and see" project.

So ... yeah. I want to work those things into my schedule. I'm excited about them. But I also need to pay the mortgage.

Obviously, I need to be working on a novel, and at the moment, the main chunk of my enthusiasm is still for the fantasy genre. Part of me wants the clean slate of a whole new world and cast of characters, and I already have an awesome idea and three chapters. But the Ink Mage books have reached a lot of readers, and I'm equally excited to return to the World of Helva for more adventures. I invested a good bit of creativity thinking up the system for the tattoo magic, and I feel there's more there to be mined.

So. That's what I've been stewing on. I guess I'll know in about 2 weeks what I've decided.

Or think up nine new ideas and try to write them all and explode.
So I'm pulling together some thoughts from a previous blog post and some stuff I was talking about on Facebook ...

I mentioned before that I'd created a lot of stress for myself by not saying NO to offers of work. I mean, when you pay the bills as a freelance writer, you never know where that next paycheck is coming from, so you take all the work you can get. The result is that there was a time I was juggling a lot of comic book and novel projects and just simply burning myself out. I felt pretty frazzled. I'm at the point now where I'm doing less, balancing things better, and this situation has led me to be more disciplined about sitting down every day and routinely hitting my word-count goals with seeming ease.

The appropriate reaction to the above revelation is "No shit, Sherlock."

I guess hindsight really is 20-20 because I find myself wondering why I haven't been doing this all along. It's early in 2017 and I have a thriller due in March. There was a time I might have been worried about that. No longer. At a thousand words a day (the minimum goal I've set for myself ... I write more if the flow is good) it's not a problem, and I know it's not a problem because the math is so simple even I can do it. I've built in a certain number of "life gets in the way" days, but other than that the strategy is ridiculously simple, sit down and write and do not stop until you get those thousand words. Period. Well, yes, I can get up to go to the bathroom or make another pot of coffee, but you know what I mean. In the swirling chaotic vortex my life had become juggling so many deadlines on multiple projects I'd forgotten this simple process: Sit down at computer. Write. Wake up the next day and repeat.

The most embarrassing thing, I suppose, is that I'd forgotten the advice I'd given to so many others. A pal of mine made a spreadsheet to keep track of our words during an informal NaNoWriMo contest. The simple act of looking at the small word count each day but then seeing how it all added up at the end of the month made me rediscover the cliche but true bumper sticker advice that slow and steady wins the race.

So when I turn in my novel in March, I'll probably give myself a week of beer swilling and TV binge watching and generally not writing. But then I'll be right back to work, a thousand words a day. If I can't knock out two more novels in 2017, then I'm not doing it right.

Victor Gischlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04503919715676328059noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562628385364540098.post-75342898457808907152016-12-30T07:20:00.004-08:002016-12-30T07:20:58.149-08:00Obligatory end of the year navel gazing.
So here comes 2017. What is it I want exactly out of the coming year?

First, some obvious things. Like be healthier. I am signed up to run two 5K races (with a third likely as soon as registration opens) so my hope is that with these races looking me in the face, I'll actually "train" ... meaning get off my fat ass a few times a week and ease off the potato chips.

A more difficult question is what exactly is next for my writing career? As a writer, I usually have to strike some kind of balance between "the projects that currently excite me" and "the projects that pay the mortgage." Sometimes I'm fortunate when these things coincide. If you know me, then you know I juggle novel writing and comic book scripting. I'm also dabbling in screenwriting, and while there are some glimmers of optimism on the horizon, I'm not counting screenwriting as significantly contributing to my income.

I will also continue to throttle back on comic book work. One of the reasons for this is that comic book publishers are not exactly ringing my phone off the hook with offers ... although the fact is I'm not calling them either. Don't get me wrong, if DC called and said they really needed me to do Batman ... But that's not happening, and that's fine because the only comic book work I'm really eager about is some creator-owned stuff. For example:

Will we have some more of that? I think so. Stay tuned.

But mostly, I will be moving back toward novels. I love the "team effort" of comic book writing, but often getting an artist and colorist and letterer all together only to find that certain publishers want you to pitch but prefer to pick their own artists ... ugh. It can be a headache.

My fantasy trilogy A Fire Beneath the Skin has reached more readers than all of my other novels put together. (I haven't actually run the numbers on this ... but it's close.) Furthermore, fantasy is where my head is right now. So it's a no-brainer that I would continue to write in this genre. The one thing I'm struggling with is if I should return to the world I created for my trilogy and write more Ink Mage stories ... or if I should start with a clean slate on something else. I just don't know yet, but I'll need to figure it out soon.

And of course I'll be writing other things too. I'm fortunate to be able to write for a living, but I'm not one of those authors that can leisurely work on one book at a time. I need to have other irons in the fire at all times. I'm currently grinding hard to deliver a thriller, and I will be looking ahead to the next thing even as I'm writing my next fantasy novel. I have a handful of things optioned, so there's always the chance of some giant Hollywood check ... in which case why would I write anything I didn't want to? But experience has taught me not to hold my breath for such things. Who knows?

In the meantime, I need to think fast about what's next. The novel I'm currently working on will be done soon. And then ...?
It's that time again, when Americans rise from their turkey comas to fling themselves into the deadly embrace of Black Friday. If YouTube videos of previous Back Fridays are any indication, many of you will not survive. Imagine being one of the lucky few to make it through unscathed only to return home and realize you forgot a gift for some uncle or cousin. You don't want to go back out there, do you?

The answer? eBooks. That's right, from the comfort and safety of your home, you can gift one of my books to that friend or relation with a Kindle or other reading device.

The cost of my FANTASY TRILOGY is far, far less expensive than the average Lexus.
The above is a selection. There's plenty more. And since writing is how I pay the bills, I feel like I need to go all carnival barker once in a while. Hopefully you've been inspired to give the gift of reading.

I see I haven't done anything with this blog for quite a while. And my last post was about Epcot. So this one will be about Animal Kingdom. If I have only limited time when visiting the mouse, I always hit Epcot. The World Showcase is my fave place. I like to eat and drink my way around the nations, catching singers and acrobats and whatever entertainment I happen to stumble upon as I go.

I have almost an opposite feeling for Animal Kingdom. Sort of. Almost. Which is to say I don't DISlike the park, but if I have limited time, Animal Kingdom is always the park I cross of my list first. For starters, the rides are fine but not my favorite. Kali River Rapids is all well and good, but if you're going to go on this ride, make it the last one of the day. Walking around a theme park soaked to the bone is no treat. Dinosaur is the single loudest ride I've ever been on. SO LOUD. I feel like I was happy to see the various shows. Once.

Also, there are no boats or monorails that go to that park. Does this mean the park is too difficult to find? Not really. But I'm always more inclined to hop on a monorail than I am to board one of the buses. I'm not a fan of the buses. I would probably just drive myself before bothering with a bus ... but, that would mean driving back after having a few beers which is never the best idea.

And at busy times, several bottlenecks form at various crossroads. On more that one occasion, I've crossed a bridge and found myself at a sudden standstill in a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd. Maybe I've just always had the bad luck to be there at the wrong time.

But it's the very fact that I've avoided Animal Kingdom for so long that I feel ready to go back. Also, I'm wondering if I can approach it like Epcot and map out a Drink Around Africa similar to Beers around the World at Epcot. There do seem to be some cool places to kick back, nurse a beer and people watch. Examples:

So what do you think, folks? Should I venture back into Animal Kingdom? If so, where should I drink/eat? Where should I start and end? Tell me the best way to make a day out of this park.

There is actually no point at all to this blog post except to talk about Epcot. Why? Because I like Epcot. It's really that simple. It's my favorite of the Disney parks in Orlando. My good pal author Anthony Neil Smith tells me Epcot is his least favorite park because it is woefully out of date and showing it's age. I don't completely agree with this, but I do see his point when I'm over by the 3D show (are they still reviving Captain Eo?) and that terrible Figment imagination ride. So, yeah, I get it.

But the reason I love Epcot more than the other parks (although I like them too) is that as I am now squarely into middle age (which may or may not have anything to do with it) I find that I am much more about relaxation and entertainment than I am about rides. I mean, I like the rides, and I wouldn't want to leave Epcot without hitting Test Track and Soarin', but I'm much more keen to wander at a slow crawl around the World Showcase with a beer in my hand, taking in the entertainment.

I was sorry to hear that Canada's rock-n-roll bagpipe and kilt band (I don't remember their actual name) had moved on. Used to love those guys. But there is still plenty of good entertainment opportunities around the World Showcase. A mariachi band in Mexico sounds a little corny and cliché, but why not while you're enjoying a cold Mexican beer? In China they have acrobats. There are street performers in the UK and a British Invasion band at the rear of the pavilion. The band shell across from the American Experience usually has something going on. The Japanese drum show is cool. I like to start around lunch time, make an afternoon of it, and then finish before the wave of evening tourists. Staying through dinner is a good option, but often I leave before then.

And when Epcot hosts the Food & Wine Festival, you can crank the whole experience up to eleven.

The last time I was in Epcot I was all by myself (I was there to run a 5k) so I eased through the World Showcase at my own pace, taking it in at my leisure and NOT standing in line for an hour for rides. So ... like I said. No real burning need for this blog post. No amazing insights. I just like Epcot.

Victor Gischlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04503919715676328059noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562628385364540098.post-5832947680790549372016-06-20T06:24:00.000-07:002016-06-20T06:24:30.923-07:00In the film racket, "stupid" and "hopeful" probably look the same from a distance.
What do I mean by that? I guess what I mean is that most writers know getting his/her work made into a film is a long shot. Such a long shot that putting any time or energy into it probably seems ... well ... stupid. And yet writers do it all the time. Are we stupid? Hopeful? Both?

Example: A few months ago I put the scripts for all five issues of my creator-owned comic Sally of the Wasteland into a single file and then dumped that file into Final Draft the popular "industry standard" screenwriting program. I would like to say that the program instantly transformed the comic book scripts into a film screenplay, but that would be a whopper of a lie. Still, if you squinted just right, the document did look a tiny bit screenplay-ish. I spent some time (time I should have been spending on other projects ... because I'm stupid and hopeful) hammering the thing into shape, making it look less like a comic book script and more like a screenplay.

It worked. After all my efforts, I sat back and looked at what I'd done. A 90 page feature screenplay. Cool. So .... now what?

At the time of writing this blog post, three of my novels are currently under option. I'm grateful for this, but all of these projects are happening "way over there" and I don't really feel connected to them at all. I'm keen to be hands on, so maybe Sally is my chance. Maybe. Who knows?

I hooked up with a like-minded fellow (I won't out him here in case he does not want to be thought of as stupid and hopeful) who liked the script and did a break down. We've discussed casting and funding and all that. It's all in the very early stages. As a comic, we billed Sally as "B-movie" and "grindhouse" and I'd love to approach the film version the same way. This could all end up being a stupid waste of time, but if I shunned everything difficult or unlikely, I'd never get anywhere. I guess that's the point. Hey, Gischler, you're wasting your time. Yeah? You might be right. I think I'm going to hit my head against this brick wall anyway.

In the meantime, Sally of the Wasteland still exists as a graphic novel. Check it out HERE.
So in order to pay the mortgage, I feel obligated to harass you fine people every now and then into spending some money. I've been mostly pimping my fantasy trilogy recently since that's my latest thing, but just to mix it up, let's reach into the bag of forgotten stuff.

My first novel was Gun Monkeys, and it was nominated for an Edgar Award. After being published by the fine folks at UglyTown, Bantam Dell picked up mass market and eBook rights. I found out recently that the book has finally earned out after a 39 dollar check arrived in the mail. BIG BUCKS. So if you want to see the book that got me started, well, have a look maybe.

It's been a little over a week since A Painted Goddess was published, completing the epic fantasy trilogy A Fire Beneath the Skin, the story of young Rina Veraiin who is gifted with magical tattoos that give her extraordinary powers. Three novels full of magic, sword stabbings and steamy romantical whatnot. Check out the trilogy HERE.

The feedback has been awesome so far, and I am hugely grateful to all my readers. You guys rock and/or roll.

This is the part of the process where I come to you hat in hand and ask, "If you really liked the books, please consider writing a short honest review." And I hope you do. Reviews help authors. You don't have to do this. Obviously. That you read the books is already pretty cool. So I wouldn't put you on the spot to do more. But if you felt like leaving a review ...

And a few quick updates: For those asking if I will return to the world of Helva for more books, yes, I'd love to. I have PLENTY of ideas. It just depends on how well this trilogy sells. Ink Mage sold very, very well. We're waiting to see if the other two books catch up. Fingers crossed. For those asking about a paperback version of A Painted Goddess, the answer is yes. It's coming in March. Audio book? Yes, that's on the way too.

I've enjoyed writing these books immensely. Again, thanks for reading.

A PAINTED GODDESS hits Kindles Tuesday, January 19, meaning the epic adventure that began with INK MAGE will reach it's exciting conclusion. Keep in mind, A Fire Beneath the Skin is a trilogy, yes three novels but all one big story. So if you're not a reader yet then get started HERE with book one. If you're already caught up with the first two books, then it's time to order A PAINTED GODDESS!

As a writer, it has been a long time dream for me to write a fantasy trilogy. I'm glad I was able to finally achieve this ambition, and Ink Mage is my most read novel. Readers are still steadily ordering the sequel and pre-ordering the final book. I'm hugely grateful to all of you out there.Victor Gischlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04503919715676328059noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562628385364540098.post-35537791427492996572015-12-29T07:04:00.001-08:002015-12-29T07:56:40.322-08:00The Gischler year in review ... and looking ahead to 2016
It was a busy year.

I published 3 novels this year, and it would have been 4 but the pub date was pushed back to January.

Thomas Dunne published my thriller STAY which has also been optioned for TV by CBS. Exciting yes, but one never knows what will happen with such things, so don't wait for the TV series. Buy the book!

47North published THE TATTOOED DUCHESS which is the second book in my fantasy trilogy A Fire Beneath the Skin. As an adolescent when I was first thinking how cool it would be to be a writer, fantasy was what I wanted to write. I'm grateful for the chance to bring that dream to reality, and I'm grateful to readers who seem to enjoy the books ... so far. The 3rd book hits in a few short weeks. Here is the nifty cover:

The most "Victor Gischler-ish" novel published this year was GESTAPO MARS. The brave people at Titan put this one out and came up with a swanky cover:

I never really expect to be included on "best of the year" lists, but it was nice to be included HERE and HERE.

And for my comic book work, it was nice to be mentioned HERE.

I've also finished my run as writer for season 10 of Dark Horse's Angel & Faith comic. At the time of writing this blog post, there are still a few issues to be released, but the scripting is all done. It was a hell of a ride, and I feel honored to have contributed a small part to Whedon's Buffyverse.

There's a lot more, but the above represent the 2015 highlights.

So .... 2016.

It's going to be another busy year. Another thriller for Thomas Dunne and the Gestapo Mars sequel for Titan. Also a few issues of THIS.

And yes, I have a fairly boring new year's resolution. Somehow I got tricked into running a 5k in April. (Long story.) A 5k is not a big deal, but I'm using it as an excuse to "train" meaning I'm trying to trim a few pounds off my fat ass. A fairly standard and not very interesting new year's resolution.

Which is why I'd rather talk about New Year's WISHES instead of New Year's resolutions. My wishes:

1. I'd like to be involved with a film project. Yes, I've had novels optioned, but I want to be hands on and involved. I've recently written a screenplay draft of my comic Sally of the Wasteland and I'm working with a fellow who does visual effects and we think since the book always had a grindhouse, B-movie vibe anyway, we could do it cheaply and still have a fun good-looking project. Anyone out there have an extra million bucks? We'll settle for 500,000.

2. I'd like to write more fantasy. I'd like to return to the world of A Fire Beneath the Skin, but I have other ideas set in other worlds too. Now we just need to sell a million copies to show the publisher this is a good idea. Uh ... you have yours, right? CLICK.

3. Creator-owned comics. I'm at various stages with a couple artists on some different projects. I'd love to find a good publishing home for each.

Okay ... so what about you guys? Any new year's wishes?Victor Gischlerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04503919715676328059noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2562628385364540098.post-85484321720634854112015-12-10T06:49:00.001-08:002015-12-10T06:49:55.967-08:00Gischler teams with Dark Horse to make 2 "best of 2015" lists!

So, I generally don't hold my breath waiting to be included on "best of" lists each year. I mean, I'm proud of my work, but there's a lot of competition out there, and ... well ... I just don't expect it.

But 2 of my books made it onto 2 different lists over at WickedHorror.com. Angel & Faith made it onto Nat's best horror comics of 2015 list. Check out the entire list HERE. And Hellbound made it on Fox's best horror comics of 2015 list right HERE.

Thanks Nat and Fox!

Obviously I can't grab all the credit. Incredible artists, colorists, letterers, editors, etc. went into making these comics awesome.

Okay ... actually a little waiting. The final installment in the trilogy A Fire Beneath the Skin hits January 19. The final chapter of the story which began with Ink Mage is called A Painted Goddess.

BUT ... this time the novel will be offered in its entirety instead of in serialized form. Conventional thinking seems to be that the serialization thing was a fun experiment, but the fact is that when a reader is really enjoying the story then he/she doesn't want to wait a week for the next episode.

My publisher sold a BUNCH of copies of Ink Mage on Kindle (although paperback and audio book versions are available if that's more your speed), and many readers are still finding their way to book two: The Tattooed Duchess. We hope you'll join us for the conclusion in A Painted Goddess. It's a trilogy, so you should consider all three books to be one big story.

What? You haven't started yet? Then jump in with Book One: Ink Mage!
In all the hoopla of my new novel Gestapo Mars being released the last couple of days, I sort of neglected to mention that my horror graphic novel HELLBOUND hit yesterday in a handsomely produced hardcover.

The fact that I thought it wasn't coming out until October maybe was maybe also part of the reason I neglected to mention it.

I say "my" graphic novel, but of course these things are always a team effort. The story by Davide "Boosta" Dileo was brought to me by Diego Malara at Italian Job Studio. He thought I might be a good fit as writer for the story. Artists Riccardo Burchielli and Francesco Marttina share art duties with Luca Saponti on colors. The comic was originally published in Italian by Panini is 4 parts. Now Dark Horse has collected the entire thing into a gorgeous hardcover.

This is tough, graphic, rated R horror.

You should always give your business to your local comic shop, but since this is the internet, we need links, right? You can pick up a copy HERE.

This isn't going to be much of a sales pitch. I mean, yes, I want readers to buy the book, but not just any readers. The RIGHT readers. I'll explain.

Whenever I see a book review that starts, "I'm no prude, but ..." I immediately think PRUDE! And here's the thing. You are allowed to be a prude. This is a free society and you get to read what you want, and if you like your fiction safe and polite then great. But that means Gestapo Mars is NOT for you.

Gestapo Mars is filled with sex, violence, dirty words, sex, irreverent jokes, over the top action, sex and snot aliens. So if you're as warped in the head as I am, I invite you to head to your local book shop and get yourself a copy. And since this is the internet, here's a link for Kindle and one for Nook.
What started with Ink Mage is now headed for it's exciting conclusion. The Amazon page for the final book in the trilogy is now live. There's no cover yet, but the title is A PAINTED GODDESS. It will be available for your eyeballs in December. With the trilogy completely written and the conclusion imminent, I thought I might take a step back and muse upon how I arrived here. That sounds riveting, right? SHUT UP!

Ahem. Anyway.

So ... I was on a three-way phone call with my agent and an editor from 47North, Amazon Publishing's science fiction and fantasy imprint. We were talking about a novel I was writing. I guess specifically we were talking about how to get 47North to publish it. And give me money. So I could eat. Anyway, it wasn't going well. There were concerns about the novel, it wasn't mainstream. In fact, it was kind of rude. We wanted to be in business together, but maybe this wasn't the right book. The phone call was rapidly on its way to a big fat NO SALE, CHUMP.

And that's when I reached into my back pocket. Metaphorically speaking. Everyone knows I don't wear pants. I reached into my metaphoric back pocket and pulled out an idea I'd been stewing on for a few years. It was a fantasy story about a young woman named Rina who gains extraordinary powers from magical tattoos. As I explained the idea, the tone of the phone conversation changed dramatically. The excitement was palpable. The editor asked me to type up a quick proposal. I did. And a few days later my agent and I had sold Ink Mage to 47North.

And thus a fantasy trilogy was born. Right?

WRONG! WHY ARE YOU SO DAMN WRONG? JUST STOP IT!

My intent was always that Ink Mage would be the first book in a trilogy, but 47North was not quite ready to make that kind of commitment. One book was a risk they were willing to take, but three? So I had to write Ink Mage in a way I hadn't really anticipated.

Hey, remember those Lord of the Rings films? (Of course you do.) I remember sitting in the theater watching Fellowship of the Ring. It was awesome. It ended and the lights came up, and a lady two rows behind me turned to her family and said, "That's it? That's the way it ends?" My kneejerk reaction was to think What are you, an idiot? After all, this was the most famous fantasy trilogy of all time. Lady, don't you know how trilogies work? It's continues in the next film. Duh. Looking back, I think I was maybe a bit tough on the lady. Yes, if you're an avid reader and a fantasy nerd (like me) you fully understand the story continues in the next installment. That Frodo and Sam would run off in one direction and that Merry and Pippin are captured and the rest decide to "hunt some orc" is a perfectly fine ending ... if you know it's going to be continued. But if you've shown up for a summer matinee thinking you're just going to munch some popcorn and see some cool special effect, then, yeah, I can see how you might come away confused.

Which brings me back to Ink Mage. With no guarantee I'd get a crack at two more books, I had to write a book that concluded as if it were nothing more than a single novel, but I also had to plant the necessary seeds should I be allowed to write the next two books. I guess I pulled it off okay because the book sold really well and the publisher said they were ready to talk about a sequel.

But one sequel wouldn't do it. I needed two more books to make a trilogy. (You can check my math on this. I'll wait.) So would I write the second book as if it might be the last? Should I squeeze two book's worth of story into one? I told my agent we really needed to go for two books. I needed to know how I was going to do this. I couldn't write book two with only a maybe there would be a book 3. My agent said he'd try his best.

Well, it worked out. We got a two book deal to finish the trilogy. This meant I could have the cliffhanger ending I wanted in book 2 The Tattooed Duchess.

It's too soon to know anything significant about sales, but most readers seem pleased so far. Cautious optimism. Some readers seem put off by the fact the story isn't "finished" and concludes in the next book. Again, I find myself thinking of the lady in the movie theater so incredulous when Fellowship ended and all the principle characters were scattered all over Middle Earth. I asked my support crew at 47North to make sure we described A Fire Beneath the Skin as a trilogy and that it's clear all three novels are one big story and not different stories which just happen to have the same characters. Ultimately, I'm not too worried. Ricky L. Brown pretty much nails it in his Amazing Stories review: "For those who are intimidated by the dangling storyline, you need to look at it this way. The Tattooed Duchess is the setup to the final book in the series much like The Empire Strikes Back was to the Return of the Jedi. Fandom loved Star Wars and wanted more. But it had to be bigger and better because we are a selfish lot. We loved Ink Mage and now we want more." So yeah, just as you know our heroes will eventually rescue Han Solo from Jabba's clutches, so to do we know that Rina's fate will be revealed in in the next installment.

Which brings us full circle to A Painted Goddess, the thing that kicked off this blog post in the first place. If you find yourself in suspense at the end of book 2, fear not. Book 3 is only a few months away. I already have plans and ideas for returning to the world of Helva, the setting for the Ink Mage novels. Will the publisher be interested? Who knows? I hope so. I feel like I've just scratched the surface of this world I've built, and I'm eager to explore every nook and cranny.

Okay, if you have a Kindle or a tablet with a Kindle app, then here's your bargain for August ...

Right now, the first two books of the trilogy A Fire Beneath the Skin are available for super el cheapo!

Book 1 Ink Mage is on sale for 2 tiny dollars for the month of August. CHEAP!

Book 2 is called The Tattooed Duchess and it's currently being serialized. When the serialization concludes, the price goes up, so grab it now for a measly 1.99!
