Ah, but it's not a science fiction issue! It's just crime fiction as if written 500 years from now. I mean, would Hammett have called our modern crime fiction world of computers and cell phones "sci fi"? Well, maybe. It's all semantics.
I don't want people to think "science fictiony style crime". I want them to think "If I am a writer alive in 2509, and people still use written English to create fiction, what will the pulp/noir genre look like?"
Like Flannery O'Connor says, it's a "reasonable use of the unreasonable."
