Louisiana Book Festival ... NOIR ... again

Later today I will be on a discussion panel at The Louisiana Book Festival. The panel is called Two Guys Noir. Many of you who know me well will fully understand how eager I am to discuss "noir" for perhaps the 750th time. I do so relish the discussion. I am chomping at the bit to define exactly what noir is and which authors are legit noir while others are damn imposters.

Perhaps I'll get to use a bunch of fancy words I learned in grad school.

You should have known grad school would come in handy eventually.

Five bucks if you can use "paradigm", "post-modern", "exegesis" and "infrangible" in your talk.

Okay, the panel has come and gone, and in all fairness it was a reasonably pleasant experience. The panel was called Two Guys Noir, and the other panelist was a New Orleans author named Greg Herren -- a charming and enjoyable fellow. We felt it enough to touch on noir as we talked about our books and writing in general rather than to dwell on tedious definitions, etc.

The event was much smaller than -- say -- the L.A. Times Festival of Books, but it was still a well-organized, good event. Fairly well attended too.

V! Enjoyed what of the discussion I saw -- I had to skip out to see Douglas Wolk's comic-book talk, which began 30 min into your panel. Hope you sold some books--
