Six random things to prove I'm even more boring than you suspected.

Patrick Shawn Bagley tagged me with a meme. I'm supposed to list 6 random things about myself that you may or may not already know.

1. I Really love ABBA.

2. I visited the Soviet Union before the Iron Curtain fell.

3. On a trip with some buddies to the Keys, I abandoned ship during a storm in the Gulf of Mexico.

4. I would grill every meal if my wife let me.

5. I'm really bummed I didn't make it to the L.A. Times Festival of Books this year.

6. I'm drinking an IBC Root Beer as I write this.

Now, part of the rules is that I'm supposed to tag six other people, but I know that not everyone can handle the awesome responsibility of perpetuating a meme. So I'll take volunteers only. Feel free to post links.

When did you go to the late, unlamented USSR? I was there summer '91 (a month before the coup).

My wife visited St. Petersburg a year later.

Finally, another person who admits they like ABBA :)

Oh, I don't like root beer. Real beer or nothin' for me...

Cool list.

GP,

I was in the USSR in 1985. Right after we left, we entered Japan and remembered there were other colors than gray.

Lori,

I like the ABBA better than I like the root beer ... but my liver was crying mercy on me.

My wife (girlfriend at the time) when to the USSR in 1987. On the way back, she bought me a fifth of Finnish vodka. I thanked her by drinking it until I puked and passed out. She should've known better, don't you think?

Never got to go to the USSR. When I was in the Army, a bunch of us tried to arrange a trip, but they weren't giving visas to US military personnel at the time. We did get to go to East Germany and Yugoslavia. Yugo was nice. E. Germany was kind of gray and dreary.
