The author is always the last to know

My wife's friend (hi Jennifer) snapped this with her camera phone in the Baton Rouge Barnes & Noble. See where it says "reading" at the bottom. Uh ... I had no idea. I just assumed I'd be sitting at a table doing the usual. Hmmmmmmmm. I'll need to look into this. Since my book is laced with vulgarity and violence (i.e. fictiony goodness), I usually refrain from reading in places where there might be children, etc.

There you are looking so respectable and professorial next to that wild title and cover. Wish I lived near enough.

Victor, Funny thought seeing you actually READ from any of your books, particulary ones with topics like Go Go Dancers with guns. Interesting that B & N would even advertise something like that. I second the thought of being in there. Perhaps you could swing by Indiana sometime? BTW, I'm reading a GREAT breakout noir piece called Snitch Jacket by Christopher Goffard. Not a bad piece at all. Just picked up my Hardcore Hardboiled book, gonna start it tonight.

Hmmmm... I recall one B&N reading, via a news report, where the PA was cut off because the author used "naughty" words. As if the staff had no idea what the frikkin book was about.

There's always Plan B: Round up all the kids and chase them out of the store.

Or you could hand out these to the kids to play with:

Well, my copy of GO-GO GIRLS OF THE APOCALYPSE arrived this morning, and the first chapter has me totally hooked. Maybe read that. Then they'll just have to buy a copy.

Take a cue from Kinky Friedman: "I never like to say 'fuck' in front of a c-h-i-l-d."

Well I'll be there regardless. It's the 1st time B&N has had a author there I want to meet.

And now, a reading of every fourth word from page 67 of Go-Go Girls...
Bring on the midwestern readings.
