I need your help.
First, some background: Every Tuesday evening is "No tech night" at Casa de Gischler. We unplug all video games, TV and computers in order to force ourselves to behave like a family and interact with one another. It's actually kinda cool. Anyway ... we also often have some kind of theme dinner and put a little extra effort into preparations.
This Tuesday, we're attempting a Lord of the Rings themed meal. My wife proposed this (she's re-reading Fellowship right now), and after I agreed, I found out that the idea was inspired by that hippie meal Tom Bombadil serves the hobbits in the Old Forest. I reminded my wife that Gimli mentions roast pork and "meat on the bone" at least once in the trilogy. We also talked about Googling a recipe for Waybread.
Anyway, I need Lord of the Rings suggestions for this meal. The suggestions can be inspired by a particular scene from the books or films, by a particular race, a theme, anything at all. If you can recall a scene in which Legolas eats ribeyes that would be especially helpful.
I'm counting on you, people.

I should have known Wikipedia would be on the job:

Lembas bread
Thanks, NakedMaggy. That was the other name for Waybread I couldn't think of.
Slow-smoked Gollum over Applewood.

ANS,
Hmmmm. Might have to go to Whole Foods for exotic Golum meat.
Start the meal off with a vodka Gimli. Then some 'Whose a-Frodo These Spicy Nachos?' appetizers. A main course of Smeagoloaf with Aragorn corn and a green salad with a sweet and Saurman dressing. Pippin-hot biscuits are optional. Finally, for dessert, a yellow-frosted donut. Dinner music: Some Ringo Starr.
Fishbowl,
A little pun-heavy but amusing.

Taters? What are taters, precious?
Sam and Frodo eat conies in a stew. You can substitute whatever rabbit happens through your yard.
Rabbit! I like it!
Ha! Just found this:

ANS,
Sounds like something an Orc leaves behind AFTER a big meal.
Mushrooms. And beer.
Mushrooms are already high on the list, JD. And beer is always high on the list regardless of theme.
Just consulted with wife-chef. So far mushrooms and rabbit (conies) are leadign the way.
OK, Victor. I worked on the LOTR films, as Great Eagles specialist. So...
LOTR Dessert.
bend some tin into a cookie cutter (this is true to form, pardon all the puns, but the Great Eagles were actually one eagle CG model, repeated) shaped like eagles with wings spread. Use for sugar cookies.
Bake cupcakes, trimming three into flat cylindrical forms, and icing-glue them into an Orthanc Tower.
Bake Great Eagle cookies. Designate one cookie as Gwaihir.
Put two D&D miniatures atop Cupcake Orthanc Tower. One's Gandalf, one's Saruman.
Say dramatically, "There is only ONE Lord of the Desserts, and he does NOT share cupcakes!"
Then have tiny Gandalf jump off of Cupcake Orthanc Tower onto Cookie Gwaihir and escape.
Nom nom nom skreee nom.
Larry,
Holy Crap, you worked on LoTR films? That's completely awesome. I'm jealous as hell.
And good suggestions. I'll pass them on to the wife-boss.

Lamb chops with mint chimmichurri. Ale.
NERD MEAL UPDATE: Finding a butcher that carries rabbit is proving difficult.
You could eat their legs. They don't need their legs.
Raw fish, of course. If you've got real LOTR stones, you just slap that raw b&^%$ on the table and eat.
And what was that real nasty meal that the suicidal regent of Gondor (can't remember his name right now) . . . Denethor? . . . crabs or something? I just remember lots of gross closeups of nasty food.
Mr. P.D.
Hmmmm. I think I prefer my fish with chips.
