Still one of my favorite crime novels, though I was late to the party (first read it five years ago). I have to get a new copy because mine's falling apart from repeated readings.

I was REALLY late to the party; I got GUN MONKEYS as a Christmas gift from my daughter. (How cool is that?) Great book, great read, Mickey Spillane with a sense of humor.

I have been trying so hard to find this damn book!

Ca Nadeau,

Go to your favorite bookseller and demand they order it!

I first read it in 2004 when I was in the middle east. The mystery section of our makeshift library at Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar was filled with legal thrillers, forensic whodunnits, and military techno-thrillers; nothing that really grabbed me. Then I saw that in-your-face cover and the over-the-top title and just knew I had to read that book. As an added bonus, it fit neatly into the side pocket of my desert camouflage uniform, so I could keep it with me to read during those unexpected down times.

BTW, that last comment was from me. Like a dumbass, I forgot to sign it.

I don't suppose you have a picture of the book sticking out the top pocket of your camouflage uniform, do you? Tat would go on the blog for sure.

Kudos on Babe Week by the way.

Victor,

I don't believe I do have one like that. If I have a picture with GM in it, it would probably be one of my room.

Glad you like the babes. Two more days to go in the week of babes.

In my opinion, Gun Monkeys has one of the best, if not THE BEST, opening paragraph or two of any novel every published. Which, given that I haven't actually READ EVERY NOVEL EVERY PUBLISHED, falls under the category of HYPERBOLE, but hey, still...
